Primus – Pure Imagination

Ich traue grad weder Augen noch Ohren und doch bin ich grad hell­auf begeis­tert vom dem, was ich da sehe und höre! Dass Les Clay­po­ol und Lar­ry Lalon­de sich nach dem kur­zen Zwi­schen­spiel mit Jay Lane nun doch wie­der mit Lang­zeit­drum­mer Tim Alex­an­der zusam­men­ge­tan haben, wuss­te ich ja, aber dass sie ein Album basie­rend auf »Wil­ly Won­ka & The Cho­co­la­te Fac­to­ry« ein­ge­spielt haben und im Okto­ber auf die Welt los­las­sen wol­len, war mir dann doch neu. »Pure Ima­gi­na­ti­on« macht schon mal klar, wo die Rei­se in »Pri­mus & the Cho­co­la­te Fac­to­ry with the Fun­gi Ensem­ble« hin­ge­hen wird: In die Welt der psy­che­de­li­schen Schokoladenmischungen.

Das Album soll eine Reinter­pre­ta­ti­on des Sound­tracks der Ver­fil­mung von 1971 sein. Über­haupt ist Clay­po­ol nicht unbe­dingt ein Fan der Tim-Bur­ton-Ver­si­on: »We need to make sure that kids in the future watch the ori­gi­nal Wil­ly Won­ka and not the hor­ren­dous, hor­ri­ble remake that came along and left the tas­te of feces in our mouths. The­re are a lot of very talen­ted peo­p­le on the pla­net. And Tim Bur­ton and John­ny Depp are two of tho­se very talen­ted peo­p­le. But like all human beings, every now and then, we crap in our pants.«. Die Band hat pas­send dazu sogar exklu­si­ve Pri­mus-Scho­ko­rie­gel namens »Mr. Krink­le«, »Pro­fes­sor Nut­but­ter« und »Bas­tard Bar« raus­ge­hau­en und reagiert damit scherz­haft auf den Zusam­men­bruch der Plat­ten­in­dus­trie und baut sich ein zwei­tes Ein­kom­men auf. Mir soll’s recht sein, scha­de nur, dass die Din­ger nur teu­er als Import zu haben sind.
